Sugar Hollow Cottage

Every so often, my husband and I decide to get away for a day or two. For our last anniversary, we betook ourselves to Asheville, NC, and enjoyed a week at the Biltmore, Black Mountain Inn, Bryson City Cork and Bean coffee/wine bar and Lakeview at Fontana Lake….  Since we bought Biltmore Estate season passes and have heard the Christmas decorations are a must-see, and since our last few vacation days are null after the beginning of the year, we’re thinking of going again the week between Christmas and New Year’s. It helps that our company’s paid holiday for Christmas falls on Monday the 27th…perfect.

In looking through my standard sites for searching out the cozy inexpensive yet unique spot for us to habitate while away (VRBO, HomeAway, I found this charming cottage about 10 minutes from downtown Asheville.

Sugar Hollow Cottage – $85/night, $325 for 3-day weekend, $675 for a full week (plus 7.7% tax and $55 cleaning fee)

This completely renovated cottage/cabin in the beautiful Sugar Hollow area of Fairview (just SE of Asheville off HWY 74) is charming and fully equipped for your getaway to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! Additional amenities include: decks, screened porch, pathways, streams, dining room, two bonus sitting rooms, flat screen TV, rock gas log fireplace and plenty of parking. Just 10 minutes from Downtown Asheville, and 12 minutes to Chimney Rock/Lake Lure, Sugar Hollow Cottage is just the right distance from everything in Asheville – museums, restaurants, concerts & live music, shopping, outdoor activities and more, including the stunning Biltmore Estate! A short drive up the mountain takes you to the amazing views of Chimney Rock Park and the relaxing waters of Lake Lure for boat rides and swimming (beach area w/ lifeguard). Take in the cool mountain evenings after a day of Western North Carolina fun at Sugar Hollow Cottage!
I then happened across this beauty: Creekstone Cabin – $108/night, $648/week. Charming!
Re-discover yourself in this rustic and inviting cabin along a lovely mountain creek, bordering Pisgah National Forest. You will love relaxing on the deck under the trees listening to the peaceful sounds of our creek. Inside your private retreat you will find a full kitchen, comfortable dining and living areas including TV, DVD player and high-speed wireless Internet access. Spend the cool evenings in front of a cozy fire. Nestled at the base of Mount Pisgah, your backyard is over 80,000 acres of protected National Forest. Enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and long nature walks just outside the front door. Take a leisurely drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, just four miles from the cabin. At Creekstone Cabin you’re only a 20-minute drive to Asheville and the best the area has to offer in attractions, entertainment, dining, shopping, outdoor activities, and more.
