Fantastic Fall

10/04/2009

I love the Autumn season! The crispness in the air, the first frost that kills the bugs and gets some of the hot Southern humidity to subside…. Plus the thought of Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season is always anticipatory!

So here are some great Fall ideas to get you going:

Carve pumpkins with your dog’s face! Visit this site for stencils.

Spiced Pumpkin Butter – 2 cans Pumpkin, 1 and 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1/2 cup apple juice, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 2 tsp each of ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and a 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Combine all ingredients together and bring to a boil, then stir over medium heat for 25 minutes. You can spoon into freezer containers (leave about an inch of headspace for expansion) to freeze up to 6 months, or store in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Need a fast and inexpensive but thoughtful hostess gift for all of the holiday events you’re invited to? What is more perfect than a Tea-for-One ceramic teapot/cup with a couple bags of tea inside? Find them in a multitude of colors for just $6.95 here and just add a couple tea bags to the inside. Tied together with an attractive ribbon bow, you’ve got a classic but simple gift without breaking your budget.

Cross your fingers and enter to win a Tempur-Pedic bed, linens, pillows, $5,000 gift card and a consultation with an interior designer! Also visit M&M’s website to enter to win $1,000.

And for anytime, a nifty idea for freezer storage, especially for those little portions of leftover sauces: a LIDDED ice cube tray! Great for baby food, too! I’m thrilled to find this one….

And remember to enjoy the Harvest Moon tonight!
